Stewardship Endowment Fund

Valleylands SpringThe Niagara Land Trust Stewardship Endowment Fund was created to create a permanent source of revenue for our stewardship efforts. The fund is held by the Niagara Community Foundation. This fund was created through the Care for the Land you Love program a province wide campaign coordinated by Ontario Land Trust Alliance and Community Foundations of Canada to raise awareness and funds for ongoing stewardship of preserved lands in Niagara and other communities across Ontario.

The Niagara Land Trust will be creating a stewardship fund for each property we own or manage to ensure we have a sustainable source of funding to properly manage for perpetuity. The types of activities this fund supports includes but is not limited to:

  • Flora and Fauna Inventories
  • Maintain and clean up trails
  • Repair fences
  • Plant native seeds and trees
  • Stewardship training
  • Encourage erosion control
  • Invasive species control
  • Conduct wildlife inventories
  • Habitat enhancement and restoration
  • Woodland Restoration
  • Research
  • Connecting education and stewardship in our youth
